Mrs. Thomas and I taught together and use the skills we learned in that program in our classes at MHS. I am originally from Atlanta, GA, but moved to Bristol, TN when I came to King College in 1995. Mrs. ThomasA little about me:
I teach skills lessons in CKLA this year. This is my 9th year teaching at MHS. I graduated from King University in 2011 with my M.Ed and I received my Ed.s degree in 2018. I came to Mary Hughes in 2012. Prior to coming to MHS, I was trained as a reading instructor through the Lindamood-Bell reading program. I have a B.B. A. in marketing from ETSU. I worked as an Account Manager with what was once known as Cellular One and is now Verizon Wireless. I loved climbing the corporate ladder but had my daughter Ashley and decided to "retire" and stay home with her. I fell in love with the idea of teaching when I became an aide at Haynesfield. Teaching is truly a passion! I'm lucky enough to be a part of our great team - Mrs. Boyd and Mrs. Harbaugh are amazing educators! My hobbies include singing, spending precious time with my family, and reading books. I have lived in Atlanta, Knoxville, and now we make our home in Bluff City. Our oldest daughter Ashley, is married to our wonderful son-in-law, Mark Chang. They live in Winston-Salem where he is a 3rd year med student and she works as an oncology nurse. Our youngest daughter, Sydney is a graduate of East this year (2020) and will attend the University of Tennessee this fall. She dances competitively with Bristol Dance Academy. We have one "grand pup" and he is a Goldendoodle named Sully. We love Mary Hughes and think it has an atmosphere of caring for students unlike any other school!
